Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is still on his way to regaining full match fitness after suffering an injury toward the end of last season but according to reports, he is nearing a return from the problem and has been tipped to join up with the Red Devils squad while the players are currently in pre-season. Martial had a difficult campaign last season after having a much better one the previous season and struggled for form and consistency while also having to worry about niggling injuries but he still has the trust of manager Olé Gunnar Solksjær and the Norwegian boss believes that there’s still a lot of good football and goals left in the French international forward.

Martial was initially called up to the France squad for the 2020 UEFA Euros tournament alongside midfielder Paul Pogba but he withdrew from the squad after his injury and traveled back to England where he started having treatments. He is now recovering at a steady pace and is expected to regain full fitness in the next few days, meaning that he could feature in United’s next few games of the preseason as he would be looking forward to regaining match sharpness before the start of the new season.

Martial now has more competition for places in the United squad after the Red Devils confirmed that they have signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer. United now have Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, Jadon Sancho, Amad Diallo (unless he goes out on loan), and Daniel James as the first-team stars competing for a starting role in the team’s attack and if Martial does not prove himself worthy of his position in the team early enough from the beginning of the season, he could lose his spot consequently.
