Manchester United will return to Premier League action as they welcome toothless Sheffield United to Old Trafford on Wednesday night. The home team will be looking to seal yet another win to maintain their fine run of form in the League so far this season.

Both sides are heading into the tie on the back of their respective victories in their cup games the last time out. While United needed to perform yet another comeback to clinch victory over rivals Liverpool in the 4th round of the FA Cup, Sheffield won their last fixture by 2-1 against League One club Plymouth Argyle.

United manager Olé Gunnar Solksjær will most likely make use of his favored 4-2-3-1 formation for this clash and may make a few changes to the side that started against Liverpool on Sunday with Matić expected to replace McTominay while Martial could be welcomed back to the starting eleven.

Predicted United Lineup Vs Sheffield United

Defence

Dean Henderson was the man between the sticks for the Liverpool game but is expected to return to the bench to make way for number one goalie David de Gea.

Victor Lindelöf is expected to form a center-back pairing with the ever-present Harry Maguire at the heart of the Red Devils’ defence.

At right-back, the ever-imprrssive Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the expected option while his fellow English defender Luke Shaw will most likely retain his spot at Left-back.

Midfield

The game may see Olé bench Scott McTominay and introduce Nemanja Matić in holding midfield. Paul Pogba will be given another platform to continue his fine form in central midfield. Bruno Fernandes did not start the match against Liverpool on Sunday but is expected to be drafted back into the starting lineup.

Anthony Martial is expected to return to the team and take a spot on the left flank while Greenwood may be allowed to occupy the right with Rashford a doubt for the fixture.

Attack

Veteran talisman Edison Cavani may be given the all-clear to spearhead the attack as a lone striker.
